Minnesota a new battleground state

Minnesota has traditionally voted Democratic, but recent polls, including one from the Minneapolis Star Tribune earlier this month, indicate that could change this November.

The Star Tribune's poll of more than 1,000 Minnesota residents found presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama locked in a dead heat at 45 percent each.

Richard Wright, co-founder and pianist for the legendary psychedelic rock group Pink Floyd died last Monday at the age of 65 of cancer.

Wright started the group with Roger Waters, Syd Barrett and Nick Mason in 1965 as an avant-garde group that performed tripped out instrumentals at venues where LSD was the drug of choice.

Legendary actor Paul Newman dead at 83

Actor Paul Newman, well known for his roles in classic films such as "Cool Hand Luke," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," and "Slap Shot" died on Saturday after battling cancer. He was 83.

The actor's long career and diverse roles gained the actor much respect from his contemporaries.
