The Women's Caucus Kathy Connors Teaching Award is given to art educators recognized by their peers, students and administration as a professor who inspires and also mentors students. The award was first given in 1999. Professor Sheri Klein, Ph.D. of art education in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout was presented with the award on April 19 at the National Art Education Association Conference in Minneapolis, Minn.
Ten University of Wisconsin-Stout students took the course of a lifetime to Scandinavia to learn more about global sustainability. Ron Scozzari from the engineering technology department and Jennifer Astwood, an industrial design professor, were the professors who created the Global Sustainability course.
RecycleMania came to an end on March 28 on the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus. RecycleMania, the national collegiate recycling event was once again a success on the UW-Stout campus. Finishing second behind the UW-Whitewater, UW-Stout had the lowest overall amount of waste per person.

However, like many of Wisconsin's lakes, aquatic invasive species (AIS) are a threat to native water plants and animals, but you can help protect Lake Menomin from the dangers AIS present.
On April 17 and 18, the University of Wisconsin-Stout held the annual French Dip Conference. Between 80 and 100 delegates participated from many UW System schools. This event was mainly funded by InterResidence Hall Association and had many UW-Stout volunteers helping out.
Do you feel that you're a leader at the University of Wisconsin-Stout? Well, there is a new class being offered now for leaders on campus. This one-credit course is called Leadership. "The class is a really good experience because we learn about the outside community that most students never would venture out to see," said Melissia Krueger, a sophomore in the course.

Earth Day was first conceived by Sen. Gaylord Nelsonin the early 1960s. Nelson worried that environmental issueswere not being addressed in the political arena. In hisconservation efforts, Nelson organized a nationwide grassrootsdemonstration in the spring of 1970, to further promoteconservation involvement and awareness.
