Do you feel that you're a leader at the University of Wisconsin-Stout? Well, there is a new class being offered now for leaders on campus. This one-credit course is called Leadership. "The class is a really good experience because we learn about the outside community that most students never would venture out to see," said Melissia Krueger, a sophomore in the course.
In the class, the students will read two books, host an event for Dunn County and participate in a civic engagement project. This involves five hours of community service total for each student. The class is split into groups and each group will pick somewhere to do their community service. For example, some groups would volunteer at the food pantry, the Humane Society or volunteer at the local elementary schools. The students are trying to get more people to participate in community service through the course. They are putting up posters around campus and advertising on Facebook. If you see a poster around, they strongly recommend that everyone helps out!
