On Oct. 30-31, the University of Wisconsin-Stout will host the 13th Annual Mind, Body and Spirit Conference for traditional and alternative healers, professionals and students in medicine, therapy, psychology and anyone with an interest in spirituality and healing. The main event will occur Oct. 31, with a pre-conference on Oct. 30.

The pre-conference is called "Inner Ethics: Examining Counter transference with Compassion." It is based on Kylea Taylor's book, "The Ethics of Caring" and will focus on the role of ethics in relationships. According to her biography, Taylor is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in the recovery from childhood trauma and integration of spiritual emergence and transpersonal phenomena. She has written several books. The pre-conference will last from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The main conference takes place on Halloween from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The keynote speaker is Andrew Harvey. According to a description of his speech, Harvey will "give his vision of the perfect storm of crisis now threatening humanity and nature" and "share the seven sacred laws that ensure that Sacred Activism works in its most radical and transforming way."

Harvey's presentation will be followed by three sessions in which participants may choose to attend workshops and presentations. Choices range from "Tai Chi" with William Broughton to "Past Life Regression Therapy Workshops" with Eric Christopher to "Flower Essences to Rejuvenate and Ease your Life" with Marybeth Buchele.

There will also be a class taught by Bob Salt that can be taken for credit as PSYC-401/601 or HDFS-395/595. Throughout the day there will be exhibitors offering seminars as diverse as information on touch therapy to beaded jewelry. Something is offered to suit almost any interest.

The price for the pre-conference is $95, the main conference is $115 or both could be attended for $155. Full-time students receive the discounted price of $70 for either conference or $110 for both. If you wish to attend Salt's class, you will pay credit tuition plus $45. All workshops and exhibits are included in the price, as well as lunch. If you are interested in attending you can register online at http://www.uwstout.edu/outreach/ bms/bms_reg.htm.
